Jack & the Bookstalk (5 Roles)

You read that right: Jack and the BOOKstalk

It's the tale AFTER the tale.....after Jack has cut down the beanstalk! Jack - fresh out of magic beans - trades his pet mouse for some magic seeds. But instead of a beanstalk, a magnificent book-bearing stalk grows in the garden. A disappointed Jack decides to cut down the bookstalk...until a few unexpected visitors drop by. Filled with fairytale characters facing everyday fairytale dilemmas, Jack finds out the importance of reading!

2-5 performers for 5 roles
30 minutes - one set

Jack
Fairy Godmother
Red Riding Hood
The Hare
Goldilocks

This is a smaller cast show, but lots of fun for kids to perform for other kids.
I performed this show with my son (then 8 years old) who played the role of Jack.
I played the other 4 roles by changing key costume pieces. We performed this show
over 50 times at libraries and day cares in Texas. The audiences really enjoyed this
show and we received great feedback on the performances. Itwas certainly great fun to perform.

I had my 2nd graders at the Esperanza Summer Camp perform this show in the summer of 2007 for the other summer campers (grades 1-5). We had a girl play the role of Jack, so feel free to bend teh rules of gender when casting. The Fairy Godmother can easily become a Fairy Godfather! The Hare can be a girl or boy!
